Photogravure is an intaglio printmaking technique resulting in continuous-tone images that are archival, velvety in appearance, and sharply detailed. Prints are made by transferring a digital image onto a photosensitive polymer plate and exposing the plate to UV light. The exposed areas of the plate harden while the unexposed areas remain soft, leaving behind a relief image that is then hand-inked and transferred to paper by pulling through a printing press.
